  • Bastian Schroeder
    Principal Engineer at Kittelson & Associates, Inc.
    Bastian Schroeder, PhD, PE is a Principal Engineer with Kittelson and Associates in North Carolina. He served as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI on over 25 funded projects, for sponsors including FHWA, NCHRP, SHRP2, ITE, NCDOT and others. Dr. Schroeder served as chief editor for the 2nd edition ITE Manual of Transportation Studies, was lead author on the new FHWA Diverging Diamond Interchange Informational Guide, and oversaw the development of all freeway chapters in the 6th Edition of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) expected in 2016. Dr. Schroeder has authored or co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings, and has given numerous presentations at state, national, and international conferences. Seven of his papers were recognized with Best Paper Awards, including the 2010 D. Grant Mickle Award by TRB. He is a certified instructor with the FHWA National Highway Institute (NHI) and PTV America. He is a member of the TRB Committee on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service, the TRB committee on roundabouts, the newly-formed TRB Simulation Task Force, and he chairs the North Carolina Simulation and Capacity Model users Group (SimCap) for ITE.
