Best Practices for Industry & Law Enforcement Partnerships
November 19-20, 2019, Northampton, Massachusetts

This event will bring together truck/bus safety stakeholders from across the Northeast, including those from state trucking and bus associations, law enforcement, state drivers licensing agencies and government, and will consist of plenary sessions, workshops, and demonstrations of innovative programming and technologies.

The Summit will feature keynote remarks from Alan Hanson, the FMCSA’s Chief Counsel, and Robert Molloy, PH.D., Director of the Office of Highway Safety at the National Transportation Safety Board.

The focus of this year’s Summit will be establishing partnerships between law enforcement institutions and leaders of the commercial vehicle industry in order improve roadway safety for all travelers. Over the course of the two days, speakers will discuss the most prescient issues facing commercial vehicle safety today, including impacts of marijuana decriminalization, preparation for highly automated vehicles, addressing driver distraction, and much more. In addition, states will be sharing the crash prevention programming they’ve implemented in partnerships with their trucking associations as well as lessons learned and ways these programs can be replicated in other states.

Representatives from Truck & Bus Associations/Industry, Law Enforcement, FMCSA, Drivers Licensing Agencies, and Universities within the Eastern Service Center region will be in attendance. Attendees are encouraged to share their own methods and experiences, as well as network and initiate working relationships with stakeholders, putting the Summit’s theme into practice.
