MBTA: Draft Public Engagement Plan and Upcoming Public Meetings

The MBTA has announced the availability of its draft Public Engagement Plan as well as a series of public meetings intended to introduce the public to the draft Plan and solicit public feedback.

With the engagement of the public as critical in the development and improvement of transit infrastructure and planning, the Public Engagement Plan intends to outline why engaging the public is important; how the MBTA will reach out to the public; goals for responsible and thoughtful outreach; methods and types of community events; and the MBTA’s responsibility to ensure access and accommodations so all may participate. This Plan also seeks to explain which processes, projects, and decisions the public can influence through their engagement as well as the MBTA’s commitment to ensuring the civil rights of the public.

The MBTA is open to feedback from the public about the Plan with the draft available at mbta.com/public-engagement. Public comments may be submitted through Friday, March 20, at 5 p.m. via comment tools available on mbta.com/public-engagement or via email to publicengagement@mbta.com.

Public meetings are scheduled as follows:
Thursday, February 13, 6 p.m. – Boston:
State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, Second Floor Board Room

Thursday, February 27, 6 p.m. – Quincy:
Quincy City Hall, 1305 Hancock Street, Lower Level Meeting Room
 
Thursday, March 5, 6 p.m. – Chelsea:
Chelsea City Hall, 500 Broadway, City Council Chambers, Second Floor
 
Tuesday, March 10, 6 p.m. – Framingham:
Framingham Public Library, 49 Lexington Street, Costin Room
These meetings are accessible to people with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency. Accessibility accommodations and language services will be provided free of charge, upon request, as available. Such services include documents in alternate formats, translated materials, assistive listening devices, and interpreters (including American Sign Language).
