MassDOT's Process for Soliciting and Selecting Research Projects

MassDOT and the UMass Transportation Center (UMTC) hosted a series of research roundtables to bring state transportation practitioners and academic researchers together to discuss how research and innovations can advance MassDOT’s mission and strategic goals.  
 
Academic researchers, MassDOT and MBTA personnel were invited to share research ideas, interests, and state transportation priorities. The roundtables aim was to help advance ideas for MassDOT’s current solicitation period for research problem statements, which ends on June 5, 2020.

Research Problem Statement Solicitation
 
During this stage, Research Problem Statements are submitted for potential funding.  Each Research Problem Statement is submitted by a MassDOT staff person who will serve as Project Champion (PC).
