Confined Space Training- Blended Learning MTS

The Confined Space Training-Blended Learning is a new online format of the original course that includes self-guided modules, followed by a live Zoom meeting with the instructor. You will have 3 weeks to complete the self-guided portion prior to the live meeting.

This course will be for construction and cover the new standard for construction that OSHA issued effective August 2015. It does not train your workers for entry rescue into a Permit-Required Confined Space, but it does cover all aspects of the standard and what is required including: General Requirements, Written Program, Written Permit, Attendant Duties, Entrant Duties, Entry Supervisor Duties, Emergency Rescue.

Who Should Attend

Those involved in projects where people enter sewers, catch basins, tanks, pits, crawl spaces and other similar spaces where people have restricted access and egress. Workers involved in construction projects, supervisors, and other personnel responsible for construction activities should attend this workshop.??Contact Brenda Codella at Baystate Roads for additional information at: bcodella@umass.edu

Maximum class size is 75 for the self-guided portion, 25 for the live Zoom Sessions. This course is open to a limited number of MassDOT personnel. There is a separate course registration for LTAP.

  • If people are in the same room to participate, they must be 6' apart and wearing masks.  We have been told to stop a class if we see that these requirements are not followed.
  • Please confirm any groups sharing a screen for the upcoming class. Inform training team member and the class instructor.
  • We can send circular discs to towns/departments to mark distances - we can also ship masks and trial size hand sanitizers if needed.
  • Whenever possible, videos must be turned on to increase interaction, confirm attendance, and encourage social distancing.
  • There will be a Safety Briefing prior to the training to announce these procedures to do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. . .

*This training has been approved to offer TCHs from the Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities: DWT-2024-3 (6 hrs).
