This course provides public works employees with essential knowledge to maintain a safe and productive work environment. With a strong focus on the hazards and risks specific to public works, participants will learn about safety standards, best practices in the garage and on worksites, and key guidelines for workplace well-being and safety. The course emphasizes hazard recognition and proactive response strategies in settings such as construction sites, street maintenance, and facility operations. While some content reinforces OSHA 10 standards, the majority of this training puts emphasis on safety as it specifically applies to DPW and highway workers. This is an awareness-level course rather than a certification program.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize Workplace Hazards – Identify common risks in public works environments, including physical, chemical, and environmental hazards.
2. Follow Safety Protocols – Understand and apply basic safety measures to reduce risk and enhance workplace safety.
