DESCRIPTION: Course Description: \n\nThis course presents math instruction for maintenance technicians in context. Instead of solving abstract math problems, participants will immerse themselves in typical maintenance technician roles and learn how to approach math problems as they would in the real world.\n \n\n\n \n\nThis course is part of the Math Basics for Highway Technicians series, which offers participants with a wide range of situations requiring everything from basic arithmetic calculations to using complex formulas.\n \n\n\n \n\nTraining level: This training is recommended for the Transportation Curriculum Coordination Council levels I, II, and III. \n\n \n\n\n \n\nTarget audience: The target audience for this training includes any individual who would like a basic technical math refresher, or introduction to math for highway maintenance. \n\n \n\n\n \n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nUpon completion of this course, participants will be able to solve mathematical problems related to maintenance activities, including:\n \n\n- Installing drainage ditches;\n \n\n- Mowing, seeding, and treating large areas;\n \n\n- Snow plowing and ice control; and\n \n\n- Highway repairs.
