Interpreting Municipal Bridge Inspection Reports
Correctly reading and interpreting MassDOT municipal bridge inspection reports is critical to understanding your responsibility toward keeping municipal bridges safe for the traveling public. This class will: - Define municipal bridge responsibilities - Describe how bridges are inspected - Describe how to read MassDOT bridge inspection reports - Discuss who is responsible for bridge maintenance - Outline maintenance requirements The course will also outline new FHWA requirements for the development of Plans of Action for scour critical bridges for your municipal bridges. FHWA has cautioned that agencies failing to comply with this requirement may be subject to sanctions, which could disallow the use of federal funds for future projects. The proper use of short and long-term scour countermeasures that reduce the risk of bridge failure will also be discussed.
