Study Tour of Model Pedestrian & Bicycle Infrastructure
Municipalities throughout Massachusetts are exploring ways to provide for walkers and cyclists and are establishing new facilities for these active modes that improve safety and attract new users. This one-day tour will present participants with training in the following areas: Review of basic pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure to establish a common vocabulary On-site examination of pedestrian and bicycle facilities that encourage safe walking and bicycling while benefiting all users of the same street corridor. Summary of pedestrian/bicycle improvement implementation process for each facility, including average improvement costs for pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Identification of successful designs and discussion of reasons for their success
