Bucket Truck Operation & Safety

Course Description
This course and assessment training have been designed to comply with the OSHA
1910.67 and 1910.269 standards and the best practices set forth by ANSI A92.22 and A92.24
standards. Competency in these safety standards will allow operators to understand their
role in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

The course will cover:

  • Responsibilities
  • Inspection and Maintenance
  • Work-Site Inspection, Safety and Set-Up
  • Safe Operating Procedures
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Fall Equipment
  • Suspension Trauma and Emergency Rescue Procedures

Before attending this class, participants must:

  • Read and understand the manual of their agency's bucket truck that they will be operating and working on.
  • Familiarize themselves with the manufacturer’s maintenance and inspection requirements.
  • Learn the maximum intended load and the load capacity of the bucket on their truck.
  • Practice on the truck itself, including operating the bucket, with an experienced operator.

Controller training is NOT included.

Full Curriculum

Participants: 

  • MUST pass a written exam and operator evaluation to receive certification. Wallet card and certificate of completion, valid for 5 years, will be mailed to participants upon successful completion.
  • MUST Bring their own PPE equipment  (Harness, hard hats, proper footwear, high viz vests)
  • Are encouraged to bring their own truck to train on.

Who Should Attend
Anyone who uses a bucket truck in their daily/occasional work can benefit from this workshop. 

A Cranes 101 representative instructs this training.
