Course Description

This course will document the necessary information to select, install and inspect roadway sign installations in compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Specifically the course will:

• Provide background on sign applications and pertinent State and Federal guidance and requirements for their use. 

• Identify the different type of roadway signs and when they should be installed. 

• Examine where signage should be placed along the roadway to reduce crash potential and how this placement may be modified to constraints along the roadway. 

• Review sign installation procedures so that signs can be properly installed in a crash worthy manner for various roadside environments.  

There is a 1 hour prerequisite video and activity, followed by the virtual classroom.
