Overview
Topics covered include basic safety equipment, PPE, the saws reactive forces, chain tooth parts, felling, notch and hinge, cutting techniques, wedging techniques and calculations. This class is designed for the professionals or homeowners and is designed to be a 16 hour course that would include a hands skills portion where each student fells one tree. Class size is limited to 12 students. Registrations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
Who Should Attend
Anyone who uses a chainsaw in their daily/occasional work to maintain property, do storm damage cleanup, right-of-way clearing, fire-rescue, etc. can benefit from these workshops.
What to bring/Required equipment:
- Hard Hat with Face Shield
- Safety Glasses
- Hearing Protection-Muffs or Plugs
- Gloves
- Long Pants and Chainsaw Chaps
- Heavy Leather Boots
- Fuel Mix and Bar Oil
- Saw Chain Files and Bar
- Wrenches for Saws
- Rain Gear
- Chainsaws should be brought for hands-on exercises.
