Baystate Roads is proud to announce a new workshop, “Trenching & Excavating Safety: Competent Person.”
Baystate Roads Technical Training Specialist, Mike Smith, is the course instructor. Smith will teach those present how to conduct site inspections, establish proper access and egress, identify potential environmental hazards, determine soil compositions and classification, and put in place protective systems like sloping, showing and shielding.
After the course, individuals will learn to recognize and eliminate unsanitary or hazardous conditions in their work environments.
Baystate Roads is offering the course five different dates and locations in January 2017.
Public Works professionals involved in trenching and excavation should attend.
The course fee is $75 for municipals and $150 for those in a private sector. This includes a light breakfast, lunch and all course materials.
