Course Description:

The Confined Space Hazard Awareness Training is for both construction and general industry personnel, and includes the OSHA standard for confined spaces in construction that took effect in 2015. It does not include entry rescue into a Permit-Required Confined Space, but does cover all aspects of the standards and what is required including:  General Requirements, Written Program, Hazard Assessments, Entry Permit, Attendant Duties, Entrant Duties, Entry Supervisor Duties, Emergency Rescue, Host Employer Duties, General Contractor Duties, Subcontractor Duties. This course is classroom based only.

Attendees should bring their town’s written Confined Space Program, Entry Permit, and related documents to class with them. Attendees are also welcome to bring photos of challenging confined spaces, confined space equipment, etc. for class review and discussion.

Target Audience:

Those involved in projects where people enter sewers, catch basins, tanks, pits, crawl spaces, attics, boilers, and other similar spaces where there is restricted access and egress. Workers involved in construction projects, supervisors, and other personnel responsible for construction and maintenance activities should attend this workshop.

    He has recently retired as the Superintendent for the Town of Deerfield DPW, Kevin has been in the construction field for over 40 years. Started as a laborer and furthered his education to become an MSHA/OSHA authorized instructor.  

    Since 2006, Kevin has been providing 29CFR 1926 Authorized OSHA 10hr/30hr construction classes. Added 29CFR910 General Industry 10hr/30hr in 2019, Other safety programs include 49CFR Dot Hazmat training, Driver programs, and DOT compliance audits. 

    Since 1990, Kevin has provided 30CFR MSHA New Miner, Annual Refresher Training, safety audits, Explosives Compliance storage inspections, and inventory control. He has also worked with ATF for K9 training. 

    He recently retired as a Captain from So. Deerfield Fire/Rescue after 38 years and as a Dive Rescue Assistant Team leader for a regional Dive Team, after 20 years. His hobby that he shares with his wife is to provide the special effects for the aerial aerobatics at military air shows around the country. They both are Guinness Book holders for the World’s longest “Wall of Fire” at 3.09 miles long. 

    Kevin likes to say that he may teach, but rather prefers to share experiences that have direct impact on work-site safety. His goal is to make you think before you act!
