TAT Provides Free Resources for Law Enforcement, Government Agencies in Transportation to Fight Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is an everyone, everywhere problem. It happens in every state in both rural and urban areas, and knows no socioeconomic, cultural, gender or race boundaries. Women, teens and children, and especially females of color, are especially vulnerable. Currently, there are 50 million victims globally, and it’s a $236 billion criminal industry. Traffickers use force, fraud and coercion to enslave and exploit their victims in either commercial sex or labor trafficking. TAT, formerly known as Truckers Against Trafficking, is committed to educating, equipping, empowering and mobilizing key industries and agencies to fight human trafficking. More than 2.2 million men and women in the transportation industry and over 16,400 law enforcement officers have now been trained through their materials and are making an impact in this fight.
TAT has been training law enforcement and creating high quality training materials since it began in 2009. Currently, its training library includes:
- TAT's free, online law enforcement training modules enable command staff, law enforcement personnel and civilian employees to learn more about the crime of human trafficking from law enforcement command staff, human trafficking survivors, victims’ advocates and TAT trainers. A total of five courses contain six hours' worth of interactive content. Courses titles are: Human Trafficking 101, Engaging Human Trafficking Victims: Best Practices, Human Trafficking Indicators and Law Enforcement Case Studies, Unlikely Allies: The Importance of the Commercial Vehicle Industry in Combating Human Trafficking, Addressing Demand: No Buyer = No Victim = No Sex Trafficking. Upon requesting the law enforcement training modules, agencies will also be granted access to TAT's Law Enforcement E-Toolkit. The toolkit contains information on law enforcement resources, policies to implement, tech tools, victim service providers, criminal records and survivor well-being, and problem-solving courts. Contact TAT at info@tatnonprofit.org to receive access.
- TAT has a series of free, online training modules for licensing agencies. Courses are available for front counter workers, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Testers and Third Party Testers/Auditors. Users will be able to learn more about the unique role licensing agency employees play in sharing information about human trafficking with professional drivers, educating the public and possibly identifying victims of trafficking through their interactions with the public. Contact agencies@tatnonprofit.org to request any of these resources.
- Government agencies can also request TAT's Government Agency Engagement Catalog. The catalog demonstrates how agencies can creatively display information about human trafficking, educate their employees and partner with TAT. To access this catalog, email TAT at agencies@tatnonprofit.org.
- TAT's free, online, training modules are available on TAT's online platform or via SCORM and Tin Can files.
